If you are a Refugio County resident and are concerned about possible symptoms of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we recommend that you contact one of our rural health clinics to schedule an appointment with one of Refugio County Memorial Hospital (RCMH) healthcare providers to be evaluated and tested under the new Coronavirus testing guidelines from the CDC and Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) (updated April 17, 2020). If you match CDC & TDSHS criteria you will get swabbed and a sample retrieved from your nose and sent to CPL Labs for testing.

The test currently utilized by RCMH through CPL Labs is the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) molecular technique. Coronavirus test results are typically reported back to RCMH in 2-4 days in most cases.

Currently none of the other labs that RCMH utilizes have the COVID-19 blood test. Presently the COVID-19 blood test is not widely available in South Texas. RCMH has been told that many labs in south Texas will have the COVID-19 blood test “shortly”.

Please check back on Facebook routinely to check for availability of the COVID-19 blood test. As soon as we are able to send out COVID-19 blood tests we will put this information on Facebook.

At RCMH we offer complete curbside evaluation and testing for you & your family’s safety, if appropriate.

Please call us if you are interested in being tested for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
